Bishop Walter G. McKoy was born on May 15 in Kingston, Jamaica West Indies to parents Deacon Wilbert and Winnifred McKoy. He is the second of seven children to that union. In 1976 he was united in holy matrimony to Angela Hooshing. God blessed the union with three wonderful children Warrick, Randal, Natasha.
The call of God was very evident on Bishop McKoy’s life and with a resounding "Yes Lord" in his attributes and actions he moved up the ministerial ladder rapidly. In July 1990 he was called to the office of Overseer with his designated area being New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.
On September 27, 2003 he was consecrated to the office of Bishop.
In 1986 the church in Englewood was officially dedicated as a branch of The Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) with Bishop Walter G. McKoy as the pastor. The church started with a very small membership. However, under his ministerial leadership and administration God has blessed the church in Englewood with a great harvest of souls.
On January 8, 2011 was the day that the Board of Bishops of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Inc. made a final decisions to make Bishop Walter Glen McKoy the next Presiding Bishop. It was unanimously agreed upon that Bishop McKoy would be the successor of our late Presiding Prelate, Apostle R. C. Williams. He was later installed as the new Presiding Bishop on Sat urday, July 2, 2011 during the 40th Annual Holy Convocation.
He is looked upon by his flock and members of the community as a "PASTOR OF EXCELLENCE"
Bishop McKoy’s distinctive attributes, community involvement and humanitarian efforts have brought him honor from various organizations. Bishop McKoy’s vision is to establish branch churches in the states he overseas. He desires to start Adult Education Learning Center to aid participants to achieve their GED and empower them with basic computer skills. He has been inspired by the Holy Ghost to develop a Leadership Ministry that will affect his ministry and ultimately the body of Christ.
His goal is to continue to impact the lives of his congregation and members of his community. His motto continues to be
"Making A Difference."
Walter G. McKoy is the Pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) in Englewood, New Jersey and General Secretary for the Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) worldwide. He preaches the Gospel in the West Indies, Canada, England, Africa, India and throughout the U.S.A. His motto: "Making a Difference."
